Workshop Description
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed specifically for working with clients who struggle to build and maintain healthy relationships with providers and clients who struggle to stay motivated to do the work that will lead to accomplishing treatment goals. This workshop will provide clinicians new tools and perspectives rooted within DBT assumptions about therapy that will allow the therapist to step out of the power struggle with the client, increase empathy for both client and self, and increase the non-judgmental stance. Workshop attendees will learn the DBT core strategies of validation, irreverence, self-disclosure, and commitment.
