Workshop Description
Though Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills were initially developed as a foundation to help treat system dysregulation associated with Borderline Personality Disorder, these same coping skills have been found useful for various other populations in the clinical setting. This engaging course will help any clinician gain thorough knowledge of the foundational skills of the distress tolerance module with heavy focus on crisis survival skills and reality acceptance skills. Participants will also learn ways to navigate client difficulties, hesitance, and willfulness to skills use.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Learn how to teach foundational skills of the DBT distress tolerance module.
- Learn ways to incorporate mindfulness practice to strengthen the effectiveness of distress tolerance skills use.
- Identify solutions to common challenges to implementing distress tolerance skills with clients.
