Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed specifically for working with clients who struggle to understand and change destructive and impulsive behaviors. This workshop will provide clinicians new tools and perspectives rooted within DBT therapy to conceptualize problematic behaviors and implement solution analysis. Workshop attendees will learn how to create and use the DBT diary card, complete behavior chain analysis (BCA), and implement solution analysis.
Participants will be able to:
Identify the 4 stages of DBT therapy and how to prioritize targeting problem behaviors within the stages.
Understand and practice using diary cards.
Understand and implement behavioral concepts and strategies (i.e., classical conditioning, operant conditioning, reinforcement, punishment, shaping, and extinction) utilizing behavioral chain analysis strategies.
Practice the techniques of DBT by role-playing with observation and feedback from instructors to increase knowledge and skills application of DBT strategies and techniques.
