Workshop Description

Though Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills were initially developed as a foundation to help treat  system dysregulation associated with Borderline Personality Disorder, these same coping skills have been found useful for various other populations in the clinical setting. This engaging course will help any clinician gain thorough knowledge of the foundational skills of the emotion regulation module with heavy focus on letting go of suffering through emotion exposure and opposite action. Participants will also learn ways to navigate client difficulties, hesitance, and willfulness to skills use.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. Learn how to teach foundational skills of the DBT emotion regulation module.
  2. Learn ways to incorporate mindfulness practice to strengthen the effectiveness of emotion regulation skills use.
  3. Identify solutions to common challenges to implementing emotion regulation skills with clients.
